§ 01 — Who we are

We are stronger together.

GERI is an integrated network of site-based research infrastructures dedicated to better understand the function and change of indicator ecosystems across global biomes. We aim to support excellent science that can also inform political and managerial decision-making addressing grand societal challenges.

§ 03 — Governance

We love cooperation.

GERI unites ecosystem research infrastructures (RIs) on an equal footing. The six independent observatories all sustain their own networks of monitoring sites but agree to coordinate their actions, exchange best practices, define common standards.

In GERI, the governance principles are based on sociocracy which relies on consent, trust, respect and mutual understanding. The RIs in GERI seek to develop activities that benefit everyone.

§ 04 — Science rationale

We care for Earth's future.

In GERI, we want to contribute to a better future for the Earth through science. The core of our mission is to empower environmental research infrastructures all over the world in building excellent science and making it available and impactful. We provide guidance and expertise, we share best practices and we believe in global cooperation.

"Federating capabilities, harmonising ecosystem data and reducing uncertainties, GERI enables broader cross-continental ecological research."
